High School Diploma Program
Promise Academy awards high school diplomas to students aged 15-21 that have not been successful in the traditional high school setting. It is important to remember that Promise Academy students graduate with a high school diploma (not a GED or certificate of completion) that will qualify them for higher education, admission to trade school, the military, or the world of work.
Promise Academy blends the flexibility of on-line learning with guidance by fully licensed subject area teachers. You can choose to work on one class at a time, or carry a course load that suits you. Promise Academy staff is highly trained to help you complete courses quickly, and with quality.
Promise Academy offers courses at all academic levels. From Foundational to Advanced Placement, we have courses that will suit your needs.
Career Based Intervention
Career Based Intervention (CBI) is an offering that falls under the Ohio Department of Education’s Career-Technical Education program. CBI is designed for students in grades 7-12, or aged 12 to 21, who are identified as disadvantaged (academically and/or economically) and are facing barriers to achieving academic and career success. The CBI program is designed to help students improve academic competency, develop professional skills, and implement a career plan that will serve them on the path to graduation and beyond.
The CBI program uses a combination of in-class educational programs an on-site experiential learning opportunities to maximize student success. Each school offers CBI programming in a different way. To find out more about Promise Academy’s CBI program, call the school at (216) 443-0500.
Industry Credentials
Earning an industry-recognized credential can place a student on the path to success after high school. Students that earn industry related credentials are set up to directly enter the workplace or go on to a two-year or four-year college. Some students can industry-recognized credentials are an important step toward qualifying for a high school diploma. An industry-related credential shows potential employers that a student is knowledgeable, properly trained, and equipped to carry out the duties of the job.
Currently, Promise Academy offers the course necessary to obtain an industry-recognized credential as a State tested Nursing Assistant (STNA). College Credit Plus
Ohio’s College Credit Plus can help you earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university College Credit Plus is free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees if you attend public school in the state of Ohio.
Promise Academy has an agreement with Cuyahoga Community College, but you can choose to take College Credit Plus Courses from any college that offers a course that would benefit your future. This could include online courses.
