A bit of construction near my house causes me to have to drive past a Planet Fitness every morning. If you are not familiar with Planet Fitness, it is a gym that claims to cater to average people, not triathletes, body builders, or marathon runners. I started to think that in a lot of ways, Promise Academy is like Planet Fitness. Here is my thinking:
- Planet Fitness provides access to weight-lifting equipment, treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bicycles, and other machines. Members use these machines to achieve their goal of losing weight and getting into better physical shape. Promise Academy provides computers loaded with high school courses, licensed teachers to help students with hard-to-understand concepts, and credit bearing programs that offer multiple pathways to graduation. In the end, however, it is the customer that determines whether his/her goals are met.
- Planet Fitness provides a solution to a problem. Customers are not happy with the way that they look, or the way that they feel. They see exercise and developing healthy habits as a solution to that problem. Promise Academy students have a common problem, they need a high school diploma and the traditional pathway to get one doesn’t work for them. Both Planet Fitness and Promise Academy offer solutions to a problem. That solution appeals only to those people that are not happy with the way things are. If you are overweight and out of shape and are not bothered by it, Planet Fitness probably will not work for you. Similarly, if you have found a way to get by without a high school diploma and are not bothered by the fact that you don’t have one, Promise Academy might not be the best location for you.
- Planet Fitness is there when you change are ready for it. You might drive by a Planet Fitness for months without walking through the doors. You might be too busy, you might think that you are too out of shape to get better, you might think that getting into shape is too hard. You might think that a diploma is out of reach, that getting it will take too long, or be too hard. Like Planet Fitness, Promise Academy will be here when you’re ready. Like the personal trainers at Planet Fitness, we have people here to help you every step of the way. Like getting in shape, the hardest part is getting started.
If you think your life would be better with a high school diploma, that you can get into college, into a skilled trade, or get higher pay at your current job, Promise Academy is here to help you. If you call us at (216) 443-0550 or visit us on the web at www.promise-academy.com, we can develop a graduation program that works for you. We’ll even assign you a “personal trainer” to make sure you stay on track to meet your goals.
