Dear Promise Academy Community,

It has come to our attention that a student at Promise Academy has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This virus is highly contagious and can easily spread from one person to another. While wearing a mask greatly reduces the chance of contagion, it cannot eliminate it.

At this time, your child does not need to be quarantined at home unless we notify you that they have been in close contact of the infected person. The CDC currently defines a close contact as anyone being within 6 feet of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes with or without a mask (or within 3 feet if both people are fully masked).

Symptoms of COVID-19 can develop anywhere from 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms are varied, and may include:

Fever of at least 100 degrees F

Chills

Cough

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Fatigue

Muscle or body aches

Headache

New loss of taste or smell

Congestion or runny nose

Nausea or vomiting

Diarrhea

Sore throat

This list does not include every possible symptom.

If your child displays any of these symptoms please keep your child home from school and contact your child’s doctor immediately. You will also need to keep home all other unvaccinated students living in the household until the result of COVID testing is known and guidance is provided to you by your doctor or public health official. Please tell the doctor that COVID-19 has been identified at your child’s school.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at [email protected].
